Don’t forget to organise these!

Planning a wedding is a massive task, and with so many details to consider, it's easy to overlook some important elements. Here are five common things couples often forget to organise, but are crucial for a smooth and stress-free wedding day.

1. Transportation for guests

So, you’ve arranged how you’re getting to the ceremony, but some couples often forget about post-ceremony transport. Whether it's a ride for just the two of you or shuttles for your guests, having a plan ensures everyone gets to the reception and back home safely. Consider hiring a car service or designating a responsible person to handle the logistics.

If your venue is in a remote location or if you have many out-of-town guests, arranging transportation for them is a nice touch. Consider hiring a shuttle service to transport guests between their hotel and the wedding venue. This not only ensures everyone arrives on time but also means they can have a drink knowing they’ll get back safely.

2. Wedding day emergency kit

A wedding day emergency kit can be a lifesaver for small mishaps. Include items like safety pins, stain remover, paracetamol, sewing kits, plasters, and snacks. This kit can address minor issues that may arise at any time during the wedding, like a torn hem or a headache, ensuring nothing detracts from your big day. This is a great task to delegate to a bridesmaid.

3. Weather contingency plan

Outdoor weddings are beautiful, but Mother Nature can be unpredictable. Have a backup plan in case of bad weather, such as an indoor location or a marquee. Communicate this plan to your wedding suppliers and guests, so everyone knows what to expect. A contingency plan can prevent stress and disappointment if the weather takes a turn for the worse.

4. Meals for your suppliers

You have a team of people working hard to make your day perfect, and they need a break and a meal too. It's easy to overlook providing meals for your photographers, videographers, planners, and other suppliers. They usually eat at the same time as your guests, sometimes the same meal or your caterer might do specific supplier meals that are cheaper. A well-fed photographer is a happy and more efficient one!

5. Wedding insurance

Wedding insurance can cover a range of unexpected issues, from vendor cancellations to severe weather. It’s an added expense but provides peace of mind knowing you're protected against potential disruptions. Look into policies that cover everything from the venue to the rings, and choose one that best suits your needs.

By remembering these often overlooked details, you can ensure your wedding day runs smoothly and everyone, including you, can enjoy the celebration without unnecessary stress. Happy planning!
