10 FAQs about wedding photography
1. How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?
It’s best to book as soon as you’ve secured your wedding date and venue. Popular dates can get booked up over 12 months in advance, so the earlier, the better. If you’re planning a wedding in peak season, don’t wait! We take a limited amount of weddings per month which allows us to be fully present and deliver the highest quality experience. However, if you’re planning a last minute celebration, don’t be afraid to get in touch!
2. How many hours of coverage do we need?
This depends on your schedule and which parts of the day you want to be documented. We offer three photography packages with varying coverage times so there’s something for everyone. Three hours usually covers the ceremony and drinks reception along with the all important portraits, while 9 hours can include morning preparations through to the evening party. In our planning meeting we will discuss the schedule of your day and help you decide which option suits you best.
3. Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes! Pre-wedding portrait sessions are a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. They also allow us to get to know each other better, so come the wedding day, you’ll feel at ease having me around. This is an optional extra if you’d like a practice run before your wedding, or if you’d like to include your children for some fun family portraits.
4. Do you edit all the photos?
Yes. Every photo delivered is edited for colour correction, exposure, and a consistent style. Your images should look as beautiful as the day itself. Our signature style can be seen throughout our portfolio - bright, vibrant, clean and crisp. We don’t do heavy Photoshop work as standard but if someone has their eyes closed in the group photo, we can work our magic to wake them up again!
5. When will we receive our photos?
It can take up to 6 weeks to receive your final gallery. You’ll receive a link to a private online gallery where you can view, download, and share your images with family and friends. If you’re too eager and can’t wait that long, there is the Priority Gallery Delivery option that fast tracks you to receive your gallery within 3 weeks.
6. Do you offer wedding albums?
Absolutely! We offer a range of beautifully crafted wedding albums. They’re a fantastic way to relive your wedding day and have a tangible keepsake to pass down through generations. You can choose from 24, 32, or 42 pages, which often align with the time coverage of our Just Essentials, Signature and Full Works packages.
7. Can we provide a shot list?
I welcome any special requests or must-have shots, such as family groupings or unique details. However, I also work candidly to capture authentic moments, so it’s best not to over-plan. Trusting me to document the day as it unfolds naturally leads to the most genuine and unique photos.
8. What happens if it rains?
No worries! I always come prepared with my lights and work together with your venue to create a ‘plan B’. Although it’s not everyone’s first choice to have rain on their wedding day, don’t stress! You will have joyful photos and memories come rain or shine.
9. Can you work with a videographer?
I’ve worked alongside many videographers and understand the importance of collaboration to ensure you get the best of both worlds. I’m happy to recommend trusted videographers if you need suggestions.
10. What makes your approach unique?
My style is natural, relaxed, and focused on capturing genuine moments. I blend into the background to document the events as they happen, but I also provide gentle guidance when needed for portraits that feel authentic and not overly posed. I believe your wedding photos should reflect your personality and connection, not just the event itself. Taking it one step further, we describe our style as ‘family-focused’; rather than it be an overwhelming photoshoot for you, we also want to photograph your guests and their interactions with each other.
Do you have more questions?
If you’re planning your wedding and have more questions, I’d be thrilled to chat with you. Every wedding is unique, and I’m here to help you feel confident and excited about your photography experience. Get in touch, and let’s create something beautiful together!
