exchanging rings during ceremony at GreyFriars Colchester

Real wedding at GreyFriars, Colchester

Being located in the City Centre, GreyFriars is very convenient to access and with accommodation for guests it ticks a lot of boxes. But this wedding venue offers so much more - classic sophistication and elegance.

This was a shorter coverage wedding for me, just three hours, focusing on the ceremony and drinks reception. Take a look at these and you’ll see you don’t need a full day of coverage to have meaningful, joy-filled photos of your wedding.

The ceremony took place inside the Cloisters Room at GreyFriars, which is a really elegant space.

One of the most memorable moments from the ceremony was the bride walking down the aisle with her brother. As they reached the front, they shared a look that said everything - such a simple but emotional moment, and one that felt really special to capture.

These are often the moments couples don’t realise are happening at the time, but they become some of the most meaningful when you look back through your photos.

After the ceremony, everyone headed outside for the drinks reception. The outdoor space at GreyFriars is ideal for this, especially in summer. There’s plenty of shade, which keeps guests comfortable and also creates really soft, flattering light for photos.

The couple wanted to keep things really relaxed and didn’t want to spend too long away from their guests for portraits, so we stayed within the grounds of GreyFriars, and it worked perfectly. You don’t have to go far to get a variety of backdrops at this venue. Within a stones throw, you’ve got beautiful textures, greenery, and clean, elegant spaces to work with.
