You can exclusively hire the place for the whole day and have access to the great expanse of land surrounding the venue. Wivenhoe House
Wivenhoe House offers the best of both worlds; the main building has been standing for many years and presents grandeur and sophistication while the modern extension gives practicality and a black space to decorate as you wish. It is on the edge of the grounds of the University so has good transport links but is also surrounded by countryside and feels slightly secluded. Being a hotel, Wivenhoe House can not offer exclusive hire but you and your guests can book a room for the night after you’ve danced the night away.

Layer Marney Tower
Set in acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, Layer Marney Tower has a rich history but works well for modern weddings. Between the architecture and decor there are countless spots to pose for the perfect portrait. This venue is ideal if you require a grand, impressive, stylish day. GreyFriars
GreyFriars is beautifully decorated with luxurious furnishings. Being a hotel, it can cater for your whole day including getting ready, ceremony, reception and you can even spend your wedding night there. You don’t need to worry or stress because their wedding coordinator will take care of everything. The Town Centre location provides easy access for your guests, even via bus if necessary. Colchester Castle Park is right on it’s doorstep for those all important wedding portraits.

Prested Hall
Prested Hall is a hotel wedding venue on the outskirts of Colchester. There are so many rooms and spaces at Prested Hall, the venue is flexible in how you use the space meaning you can create your perfect, unique day here. The outside ceremony area is beautiful and an excellent space to continue the drinks reception and formal photos. Inside, we particularly love the neutral, bright room with large windows - ideal for an indoor ceremony. There is also a cute little cottage you can make use of for morning preparations.

Colchester Town Hall
Colchester Town Hall is a landmark on the High Street with its impressive architecture and historical significance. They offer a range of rooms for your ceremony, catering for every budget from intimate weddings of 10 to large parties of 100. The grand Moot Hall on the top floor hosts the wedding breakfasts and evening parties. They don’t have any grounds for outdoor photographs but Colchester Castle Park is a short walk away and provides a stunning landscape.

All of these wedding venues are excellent. We would highly recommend going and viewing them, especially during an open day when they are dressed for a wedding so you can see the potential they offer.
