Wedding Venue Review: Prested Hall
A country house wedding full of character and charm
Have you been dreaming up an Essex country house wedding where you can celebrate with your guests all day long? Prested Hall might be the venue for you. It is a 15th century manor house, full of character and charm which doubles as a hotel for accommodation for your guests. The gorgeous tree lined driveway transports you away from the main road and into a bubble of wedding bliss. There is even a cute little cottage on site you can use for getting ready the morning of your wedding and/or your honeymoon suite in the evening.
Where you say I Do
The outdoor ceremony area by the lake is just beautiful and a must for summer weddings. You have the freedom to decorate the wooden gazebo with delicate flowers to create a cute scene for your photos. We suggest having two photographers to get multiple perspectives of the ceremony as the photographer inside the gazebo capturing all your expressions and emotions, has to remain there for the entire ceremony.
For winter weddings or Plan B in the case of bad weather, we highly recommend using the room that is flooded with natural light with dual aspect windows. This is a beautiful space that is perfect for bright, natural photos.
The Grounds
Prested Hall has so much to offer for your outside wedding portraits. The hotel is set within 72 acres of the gorgeous Essex countryside - but don't worry, you won't have to walk that far! The bridge over the lake is an idyllic picturesque setting for photos and to the front of the property, they have a swing perfectly positioned for cute photos too. Certainly, give enough time for these all important wedding portraits as a newly married couple.
Dancing the night away
The large marquee is a neutral blank canvas ready for you to decorate and create your dream wedding. The light is amazing for bright, natural photos of the wedding speeches and all the little details on the tables you’ve so carefully planned. With the backdrop outside of the lake and the trees, its a great reception space.
Something we love about Prested Hall is the variety of rooms available for you to use. After your wedding breakfast, move your guests into the hotel for the dancing if you want a more intimate atmostphere, or of course, stay in the marquee for a relaxed summer evening celebration.

We were pleasantly surprised by Prested Hall as a wedding venue. It is located directly off of the A12 but once you're in the grounds, you wouldn't know it. The outside areas are impressive and perfect for beautiful portraits. Inside the hotel, there are a few rooms that are quite dark with wood panelling on the walls but others are lovely and bright, so choose wisely if you'd like bright, natural photos to remember your day by. We love that there are multiple rooms that can be dedicated to each part of the day as you get exclusive access of the venue.
