The Barn Brasserie Wedding Photography

Real wedding at The Barn Brasserie, Colchester

We first met Andrew and Carly at their engagement photography session. They were both really nervous, bless them, but they did great and we had a great time. They chose to go back to Dedham where they actually got engaged for some summer evening, sunny portraits. This practice session helped them feel more relaxed for the photography on their wedding day.

As we arrived at The Barn Brasserie, the guys were doing the final touches to get ready, putting their buttonholes on. We grabbed a few photos before doing some portraits with the nervous groom. Then the bride arrived and didn’t she just look beautiful. We took the opportunity to get a couple of portraits with the father - pictures that are sure to be sentimental in years to come.

Tying the knot

The ceremony is held upstairs on the gallery at The Barn Brasserie. Immediate family joined the couple while the remaining guests watched from below. This space is very dark, with no natural light, so it is necessary for us to use flash to capture the special moments during the ceremony.

After they had tied the knot, we headed outside for the formal group photos. The Barn Brasserie doesn’t have a huge amount of land or manicured gardens so these were done at the entrance, right next to the car park. You would never have guessed though, would you! This is the power of professional photography.

Wedding photography at The Barn Brasserie

As we said before, the grounds at The Barn are limited (and it was trying to rain too!) so we stayed by the car park for the couple portraits, where there are some trees and bushes giving the natural feel that we love. Of course, these two are a beautiful pair and were able to get a wide range of different photos just from this one spot.

Inside, the reception tables were decorated with classic, simple white flowers which was beautiful. It was the cake that was the statement piece - or shall we say cakes. With a unique take, the chose to have two separate cakes, surrounded by a mountain of tasty cupcakes which looked amazing.
