Ordering a wedding album with Mae Photography

Telling the story of your day

Photo books are the modern alternative to traditional photo albums. In the past you would make prints of your pictures and slot them into an album to keep them safe and share them with your family. You might even have your grandparents wedding album passed down to you? With photo books, the photographs are printed directly onto the pages of the book, with each page designed to fit around your style and photos.

What are the benefits of having a wedding album?

It is very popular these days to keep your photos digitally, on a computer. While there are advantages of this, we believe nothing can replace the experience of seeing a physical print. For this reason we would always encourage you to have a digital copy of all your wedding photos as well as a select few in a modern album.

If you keep your wedding album on a shelf under the coffee table or on the sideboard, it is easily at hand to share with your friends and family. This means that your photos are likely to be seen more than if they were left on a USB stick in the drawer. Beautiful images of one of the most special days of your life deserve to be displayed in your home and shared with your nearest and dearest.

The ultimate benefit that we go on and on about is being able to set aside some time on your anniversary each year to sit together, look through your album and relive your wedding day. This has been a tradition for myself and Jason with our own wedding album that we just love!

How many photos can I have in my wedding album?

Although there is no limit we suggest trying to select around 60-80 images from your full wedding day. The purpose of an album is to tell the story of the day from start to finish, showcasing the highlights. On average, a good indicator is to allocate 5 images per double page spread. Of course this can be adjusted to your preference - if you would like fewer pictures per page, that is absolutely fine. We find having about 30-50 pages in total is an ideal amount.

What kind of paper do you use?

All of our wedding albums are made with Lustre paper, as are our prints. This is our favourite paper type due to it being silky - not glossy or matt - with just a slight shine. The pages are lay-flat which means they don't dip in at the spine; infact you can have a large photograph spread across a double page without any of the image being concealed at the center.

How do I order a wedding album?

Simply drop us an email to show your interest and we'll set up a consultation. We meet in person to go through all of your options and help you choose the photos to include in your album. There are lots of options in shape and size of book as well as how many pages you can have. Also at the consultation, we will discuss the style you might like. As each book is custom designed, it can reflect the theme of your day or stick with a classically simple aesthetic.
