How to plan the best wedding ever!
There’s a lot of noise around weddings. Social media, traditions, opinions from loved ones and “must-have” lists can quickly make planning feel overwhelming. But after photographing countless weddings, one thing has become very clear to me: the best weddings aren’t the biggest, the most expensive or the most on-trend. They’re the ones that feel personal, relaxed and full of genuine connection. If you’re wondering how to plan a wedding that you’ll truly enjoy - not just on the day, but for years to come - here are a few things that really make the difference.
Invite your nearest and dearest
The very best weddings aren’t defined by numbers, aesthetics or trends - they’re defined by the people in the room. When you’re surrounded by guests who genuinely love you, support you and are excited to celebrate your relationship, the atmosphere takes care of itself. These are the weddings where laughter comes easily, the dancefloor fills naturally and the day feels relaxed rather than performative. Good vibes are contagious, and when your guests are truly there for you, it shows in every moment.
Only choose things that make you happy
Your wedding doesn’t need to tick anyone else’s boxes. Don’t plan something because your mum thinks you should, because your friend did it last year, or because a well-meaning relative is applying the guilt. This day is about the two of you and what feels right for your relationship. Whether that means a big party or a quiet ceremony, traditional or alternative, polished or perfectly imperfect - choosing what genuinely makes you happy will always result in a more meaningful day. You do you.
Stick to your budget
A wedding should feel joyful, not stressful - and that includes how you feel after the day has passed. Stretching your budget too far can create unnecessary anxiety in the lead-up and even resentment afterwards. A well-planned wedding within your means allows you to be present, relaxed and able to enjoy the experience fully. The goal isn’t to impress - it’s to create memories you’ll look back on fondly, without financial worry overshadowing them.
Plan for how the day will feel, not just how it will look
It’s easy to get caught up in styling, timelines and details, but the most memorable weddings are the ones that feel good. Think about the flow of the day, how much breathing space you’ll have, and where the moments of connection will be. Build in time to be together, to talk to your guests, to laugh, and to soak it all in. When the focus is on experience rather than perfection, everything else falls into place.
Stick with these tips and your wedding will be the best day ever, for you.
