Lewis and Kelsey’s twilight wedding at Wivenhoe House
I first met this lovely couple over two years before their wedding day, when they secured their date with me.
From their pre-wedding portrait session at the beach, it was clear how important family was to them. It was also the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better and build the kind of trust and connection that makes capturing their day feel so natural.
A day brimming with personality, connection, and love. It was a privilege to create memories for them to treasure forever.
Getting Ready
Walking into the bridal suite felt less like starting a job and more like catching up with old friends. The bride greeted me with such warmth that it set the tone for the day ahead. All the details were beautiful and thoughtfully selected with personal significance to the bride.
Just before the ceremony was about to start, the guys made sure the groom was ready from head to toe. They turned a simple moment into something brilliantly entertaining.
The Ceremony
The couple opted for a twilight ceremony, outside in the grounds of Wivenhoe House. With the historic building as the backdrop to the bride's entrance, it certainly made a statement. The light at this time of day in the summer months, is perfect for photography.
They were surrounded by people who loved and supported them; the happy tears were streaming, particularly within the wedding party!
The Portraits
As we wandered down towards the lake for portraits, they took a quiet moment together away from the buzz of their guests. Some of my favourite images came from this short walk - relaxed, natural moments as they wandered through the beautiful grounds.
Their daughter was very much part of the story too, and it was important to capture them not just as a couple, but as a family. They didn’t take themselves too seriously, which meant plenty of laughter along the way and some wonderfully genuine photos.
The Speeches
The speeches were unforgettable. Their daughter’s heartfelt words brought the room to tears - such an emotional and touching moment to witness. On the other hand, the best men brought the humour and were just a bit cheeky!
Kelsey and Lewis made the day their own, doing things their way without feeling tied to tradition; they decided to skip both the cake cutting and the first dance. It’s always refreshing to see people stay true to themselves and create a celebration that reflects who they are.
