Prested Hall Wedding Photography

Real wedding at Prested Hall, Colchester

Prested Hall was the perfect setting for this summer wedding and this couple were so fun to work with. The photos were particularly important to them so they chose to have two photographers to ensure all parts of the day were documented. While I was with the bride and bridesmaids getting ready in the main hotel, our wonderful second photographer, Sarah, was with the guys at the cottage.

The whole day was beautiful (I could go on and on), but in short, their two children were adorable, they had so many handmade, thoughtful details and lots of sentimental pieces too, honouring their friends and family who couldn’t be there.

Outdoor wedding ceremony

First looks aren't particularly popular in the UK yet but we are seeing more and more couples choosing to do it. This one was perfect - in a private room at Prested Hall with gorgeous light, right before the ceremony. It was an emotional moment for sure - the groom's reaction says it all. Such a lovely moment to witness and document for them.

The outdoor ceremony area at Prested Hall is beautiful. The wooden structure was decorated with white roses for a soft, romantic look. Funny story though - it came to the exchange of the rings and the registrar said, I think a special little boy has the rings (thinking the couple's son had them) but up steps the best man, shyly holding the rings. The timing was perfect and simply comedic gold. In fact, I'm still chuckling about it now!

Wedding photography at Prested Hall

Prested Hall has so many amazing spots for beautiful photo opportunities. As a hobby photographer herself, the bride values photos and memories so gave plenty of time to explore the grounds and get lots of both fun and romantic wedding portraits.

The wedding breakfast was an informal hog roast in the marquee before moving into the hotel for the evening party. I must point out, that all the details you see below were handcrafted by the bride herself. It must have taken her a full year, but everything looked so professional, to the highest quality. She even made her daughters bridesmaid dress!

Evening reception

The bride wanted to take a moment after the meal to get a few more portraits out the front of the hotel. There is a tree swing which makes for fun photos and the evening light was just beautiful.

With use of the full hotel, the guests then moved through to the disco where the first dance started the evening off. There was also a DIY photobooth set up alongside a banquet of sweet treats, and even a cake made of cheese!
