Autumn Wedding Photography at Marks Hall

Real wedding at Marks Hall, Colchester

I first met these two for their engagement portraits at Highwoods Country Park. We hit it off straight away and had a great time exploring the park and getting natural photos of the happy couple. They didn’t take themselves too seriously and were up for a laugh, so I knew their wedding was going to be a fabulous day!

It is such a shame that Marks Hall has stopped taking wedding bookings because it was one of my favourite venues in Colchester, but I still wanted to share these photos in order for you to get ideas and inspiration on how to plan a fun packed wedding!

Wedding photography at Marks Hall

Although the wedding was held in October, we were blessed with amazing weather and they decided to go ahead and have the ceremony outside in the courtyard. They had chosen to include a second photographer in their photography package, so Lottie was able to capture the moment they said their vows from a different perspective, resulting in a diverse range of photos.

While the signing of the register was taking place, the ushers gave out confetti, so the couple’s exit as the new Mr and Mrs was a colourful celebration - it worked brilliantly.

The portraits

Marks Hall is a vast estate and we made good use of the grounds. The staff at the venue took us off in a golf buggy to all the best photo places. The lake, the secret garden and right at the back, to the Eucalyptus trees. We had a blast as we captured, romantic, fun as well as formal portraits for this beautiful couple to share with generations to come.

Wedding reception

Remember I said these were a fun loving couple? Well, the wedding reception is generally when the full personality is revealed. They had games everywhere for their guests to play, and one of the speeches was a ‘who knows the bride and groom best’ game. It was hilarious as everyone stood up and made a J or an M with their arms to play.

Then later came the chorographed first dance. They were both so nervous as they had been practicing it for ages, but the hard work paid off. They looked amazing as they glided around the dance floor at the amazement of their guests. When there’s lots of activity going on throughout the day, it results in many more, stunning final photos for you.
