You know this is an excellent hotel wedding venue, but what can you expect from the photography? Having photographed many weddings at GreyFriars before, we share with you beautiful, natural photos of the venue along with our thoughts as a recommended GreyFriars wedding photographer.

Hotel Accommodation
Wake up at GreyFriars the morning of your wedding for a relaxed start to the day. The Marcela Suite is large enough for your bridal party to all get ready together. This is amazing for the photographs as we get to capture the excitement, chaos, anticipation and all the activity going on.
Of course, being a hotel wedding venue, there is also accommodation available for your guests to stay after they've danced the night away and are ready to fall into bed.
Rooms Galore
There are multiple rooms available for your wedding ceremony, depending on the size of your guest list. Cloisters is the largest and is a beautiful setting with the arched walls. Note, it has limited natural light which impacts the photos.
The Rose Room is perfect for intimate ceremonies, and the neutral decor is ideal for photography. Top tip: with it being on the main road, the net curtain is pulled across for privacy but please don't be tempted to close the main curtains as this dramatically decreases the natural light for photography.
Colchester Castle Park
GreyFriars has a terrace where you can enjoy reception drinks while we capture natural, candid photos of you and your guests. It has ample space for formal group photos by the large tree and it's even an excellent area for fun sparkler shots!
For your couple portraits, we suggest nipping next door to Castle Park to make use of the large grounds. We are a sucker for trees as these create a natural backdrop for your natural wedding photography.
Evening Celebrations
GreyFriars is famous for it's afternoon tea and we've known many couples take advantage of this for their wedding. A small, sophisticated celebration with your closest friends and family, without forgetting the cute photos it makes!
If you hire the hotel exclusively, of course you have your pick of rooms. Cloisters has a bar, whilst Rose Room could be dedicated for guests who might like to enjoy a quieter evening.

Securing your wedding photographer should ideally follow once your venue and caterers are booked. Due to high demand, we encourage you to reach out as early as possible, as our schedule tends to fill up quickly—sometimes up to two years in advance.
That said, we have a soft spot for intimate, last-minute weddings and are more than willing to accommodate these with just a few months' notice. Whatever your timeline, we're here to capture your day beautifully.

Yes, we primarily serve areas within a 35-mile radius of Manningtree, which includes stunning wedding venues in Coggeshall, Woodbridge, Mersea Island, Bury St Edmunds, Colchester and Ipswich.
For venues beyond this point, a nominal travel fee may apply. We're committed to capturing your day wherever it is, so please don't hesitate to discuss your specific location with us!
